Additional Structured English Immersion Classes by Armando Heredia

What will JTED do?

The JTED will provide new and enhanced vocational and technical education classes for students within participating districts. Additional funding will be available to each local high school district to prepare graduating students for local jobs and postsecondary vocational programs. The JTED can improve existing programs or add new programs.

What will JTED cost voters?

The local tax contribution to the JTED is nominal and is limited by state statute. The formula calls for a maximum rate of 5 cents per $100 of secondary assessed property value which equates to $5 per $100,000 full cash value for a single family home. The funds raised within the counties will comprise from 13% - 25% of the total JTED budget. The balance of 75% - 87% will come from existing state general funds. Mohave and La Paz County citizens have been paying state taxes helping to fund other JTED districts in the state for years. Mohave and La Paz students have received NO benefits from this because we have not voted to form a JTED in our local school districts. Currently, there are eleven JTED’s in Arizona taking advantage of state funding. Forming a JTED in western Arizona will bring additional state funds to our students and help provide the community with a skilled workforce.

How will the programs be defined?

The JTED Governing Board will work in concert with local employers to define the vocational and technical skills most needed in our area. For more information, contact:

What Does JTED mean?

The school boards of Kingman Unified, Lake Havasu Unified, Colorado River Union, and Parker Unified voted to propose a JTED District. The citizens of each local school district now have the opportunity to create the JTED by voting YES in November. The JTED will function as an inde- pendent school district with one governing board comprised of representatives from each participating local school district. The proposed JTED for Western Arizona is known as the WAVE - Western Arizona Vocational Education - District.
